小林　和作（1888−1974）

山口県秋穂町（現山口市）出身。尾道市名誉市民。日本各地の風景を取材しつつ、セザンヌに始まる西欧近代の油彩画法を取り入れ、独自の美の色彩と構図を追求した。

Born in Akiho-cho, Yamaguchi prefecture (now Yamaguchi-shi), the artist is an honorary citizen of Onomichi city.
While painting landscapes in various parts of Japan, he adopted a modern western European method of oil painting that began with Cezanne, and worked to develop original colors and compositions in order to express beauty.
